  • Concert Hall Ready to Plunder Australia

    Wednesday, 6th January 2021

Cambridge trainers Roger James and Robert Wellwood are still coming down from the high of winning the Gr1 Zabeel Classic (2000m) with Concert Hall at Ellerslie on Boxing Day, and they are now looking at international targets with the consistent mare. According to loveracing.nz, like her high-flying sire, the daughter of Savabeel has been in faultless form this season, winning three of her five starts, also including the Gr2 Tauranga Stakes (1600m) and Gr3 Thompson Handicap (1600m), while she has placed in her two other starts, including the Gr1 Captain Cook Stakes (1600m). A trip across the Tasman to try and plunder Australian spoils is consequently on the horizon. Co-trainer James revealed, "There are a number of options over there, but she will have another run in New Zealand and then work from there." One of those New Zealand targets could be the Gr1 Thorndon Mile (1600m) at Trentham on January 21.
