Guineas Winner Swoops on Feature Doubles

Trainer John Blacker will send his Listed Tasmania Guineas winner Swoop Dog (Husson-Swooper, by Black Hawk) to the Tasmania Derby and Launceston Cup double after his impressive win last Friday, reports tasracing.com.au. "I've always thought this horse could be a bit special and he has improved with every start, and I reckon he has what it takes to go on and win the Derby and the Launceston Cup," Blacker said. "He may well be the best horse I've ever trained." Swoop Dog has won two of his four starts, and the 3YO gelding is raced by Armidale Stud in partnership with PE McMullen after he was passed in as a yearling at 2019 Magic Millions Tasmania Yearling Sale. Blacker's other runner on the day, Super Swoop (Casino Prince-Carolina Bella, by Zabeel) who is no relation to Swoop Dog, won the Brighton Cup to earn a spot in next month's Hobart Cup.
