The gravitas of history usually takes a passage of time to be fully appreciated, however the achievements of Written Tycoon are so profound that it’s all but impossible not to be in awe right now as history currently unfolds. Slowly, but surely, cutting back on the 2020-2021 Australian Sire table lead established by Arrowfield barn mate Not A Single Doubt (sire of The Everest winner Classique Legend), Written Tycoon’s 48 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearlings head into the arena as progeny of a sire whose stats bear any amount of scrutiny. Having started his career at a trifling $8,250 fee – he also stood for $6,600 in his third and fourth seasons – Black Type Premiership Sires leader Written Tycoon now finds himself with an almost unbelievable KPI: 42 percent of his Group winners are Group 1 winners, a figure that puts him above many of the greatest stallions in the breed’s history, both locally and globally. Showcasing the versatility of his age-group achievements are Champion 2YOs Capitalist and Written By, this season’s 3YO Guineas double act Ole Kirk and Odeum – champions-elect in-waiting – and 2020 Moir Stakes-winning mare Pippie. Meanwhile, his eleven individual Group 1 winners may soon include another. Juvenile filly Enthaar, ironically out of a mare by Not A Single Doubt, is pre-post favourite for both the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes and Gr1 Golden Slipper following her machine-like Gr3 Gimcrack Stakes triumph on debut.
