  • Woodside & Arrowfield Buoyed by Tycoon Demand

    Thursday, 14th January 2021

An agreement between the Hunter Valley’s Arrowfield Stud and Victoria’s  Woodside Park Stud to stand the latter’s stallion Written Tycoon last season would have both parties beaming following heady demand for his Magic Millions Gold Coast progeny during the first two sessions. Even allowing for a few valuable pass-ins, the boom sire of a glut of recent Group 1 winners is responsible for a dozen sales so far at a fantastic average of $361,666, particularly given the quality of visiting mares has risen further over the past two seasons. His top sellers from the opening two days include a quartet of colts that have sold for $650,000, $625,000, $525,000 and $400,000, respectively. The excellent prices aside, what speaks volumes is who has purchased the potential future stallion prospects, with many of the industry’s biggest names set to take them home. The Written Tycoon spoils to date have been shared by a broad cross-section of vendors including (alphabetically) Arrowfield, Baramul, Fernrigg Farm, Kitchwin Hills, Mill Park, Silverdale Farm, Three Bridges, Tyreel, Vinery Stud, Widden Stud and Woodside Park.
