  • Size Team Targets Successive Feature Victories

    Wednesday, 20th January 2021

Hong Kong trainer John Size will attempt to make it four successive victories in the Gr1 Centenary Sprint Cup on Sunday, reports racingnews.hkjc.com. He won the race in 2018 with D B Pin (Darci Brahma-Pins 'n' Needles, by Pins), and in 2019 and 2020 with Beat The Clock (Hinchinbrook-Flion Fenena, by Lion Hunter), and will line up the very promising Hot King Prawn (Denman-De Chorus, by Unbridled's Song). "I think he's in good shape, he seems to have pulled up well after his last start," Size said. "He's had a couple of runs this season and he's still in pretty good order. He still looks good." The Gr1 Steward's Cup will be run at the same meeting and Size will attempt to go back-to-back with Waikuku (Harbour Watch-London Plane, by Danehill Dancer) who won the race last year. Size was happy with Waikuku's run behind Golden Sixty (Medaglia d'Oro-Gaudeamus, by Distorted Humor) at his last start. "He ran very well, it was a good effort. He obviously got a bit tired over the last 200 metres but he was expected to feel that having not raced for six months… His trial (on Friday) was fair - it's how he normally trials. I think he's on track to run a good race." Size has won the Steward's Cup on six previous occasions.
