  • ATC Earns Significant International Accolades

    Friday, 29th January 2021

It may be down under, but the Australian Turf Club can legitimately lay claim to being up top after it had ten of its black type feature races recognised among the top one hundred thoroughbred events in the Longines World Rankings – the most for any turf club globally. Adding fuel to the flame of what will create inspired debate among racing aficionados is that the three highest ranked Australian Group 1 features across three categories – intermediate (Chipping Norton Stakes, 1600m), middle distance (Queen Elizabeth Stakes, 2000m) and long distance (Tancred Stakes, 2400m) – are all run in Sydney. The ATC's top 10 also included the T.J.Smith Stakes, Ranvet Stakes, George Ryder Stakes, George Main Stakes, All Aged Stakes, Winx Stakes and Golden Rose. Prophetically, and an enormous fillip for The Everest, 2020's first two home, Classique Legend and Bivouac, shared the honour of being the world's joint highest rated sprinters.
