Atyaab Adds to SAf Stakes Record

Run Fox Run (see above item) wasn’t the only Inglis graduate to enjoy success at the big Kenilworth meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, over the weekend, with fellow Easter star Atyaab (Dundeel) winning the Gr2 Kenilworth Cape Stayers. The Zietsman Oosthuizen-trained Atyaab is already a top-grade winner, becoming Dundeel’s first G1 success when claiming the Cape Derby at the corresponding carnival two years ago. Atyaab, now a three-time stakes- winner, was a $260,000 Shadwell purchase from Arrowfield at the same Easter Sale at Newmarket in 2017 that Run Fox Run was purchased from. Also the winner of the Listed Java Handicap at Turffontein, Atyaab’s most recent run resulted in a runner-up finish in the Gr3 Chairman’s Cup at Kenilworth, a race he placed third in last year.
