  • Moore to Come for Champion Trainer

    Thursday, 4th February 2021

Champion Hong Kong trainer John Moore, who recently retired from a dominant decades-long career in the Territory, is off and running in Australia where he is training in partnership with his brother Gary at Rosehill Gardens. According to racenet.com.au, the elder statesman, who oversaw a record 1,700-plus winners in Hong Kong including dual Horse of the Year Beauty generation, only came out of two weeks quarantine on Monday. With the Inglis Classic Sale due to start on Sunday, Moore was like a horse that has been kept fresh and immediately made a beeline for Riverside Stables to inspect yearlings as official parades got underway on Tuesday. “After being in Hong Kong and getting a lot of international news over there, Australia is the best place to be at the moment and I’m exciting to be back here, starting over again,” enthused Moore. “The love of the horse, the competition that is involved in the sport, I didn’t want to retire. I still have that drive and passion for the racing industry.’’ Looking forward to the auction, Moore revealed, “With my son, George, we looked at 50 yearlings. We are definitely in the market to buy.”
