  • Pinhookers Ride Playing God Elevator

    Tuesday, 16th February 2021

Leading Western Australia stallion Playing God, (Blackfriars-Dolly Will Do, by Rubiton) is bouncing back, both literally and figuratively, ahead of the 2020 Magic Millions Perth Sale which will be held on Thursday and Friday. Laid low by colon surgery in November, the Darling View Thoroughbreds sire has been boosted recently by rising star Ex Sport Man (Playing God-Playing God-Buhn Lert, by Oratorio) and experienced campaigner Platoon (Playing God-Oriel, by Oratorio) in February. Both are bred on the successful Playing God-Oratorio cross. According to tbwa.net.au, the former bankrolled his connections for a return visit to the Magic Millions Sale with a strong finish in the RL Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Pinjarra on February 6, while Platoon captured the Listed Cyril Flower Stakes at Ascot last Saturday. The Darling View team is hoping Playing God will return to normal stud duties in 2021. He had covered 96 mares in the spring prior to being hospitalised. Perth had never been a focal point for pin-hookers until Mungrup Stud dispersed its new-season yearlings in August. Among them was Platoon’s sister purchased by Geisel Park’s Eddie Rigg – one of 28 yearlings by Playing God that changed hands at the Mungrup Stud Dispersal, with another half-dozen pin-hooked by the following buyers for Book 1 of the MM Perth Sale:
