  • Ole Kirk Tackles Older Rivals in Futurity

    Thursday, 18th February 2021

Not since All Too Hard (Casino Prince) in 2012, has a 3YO recorded success in Caulfield's Gr1 Futurity Stakes (1400m), and this Saturday sees the outstanding dual Group 1 winner Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon-Naturale, by Bel Esprit) looking to add another elite level score to his record. Like previous winner All Too Hard, Ole Kirk is trained by Team Hawkes, who have indicated that if the colt comes through the run without any issues, he could back up the following week in the Gr1 Australian Guineas. Set for a stud career at Vinery Stud upon his retirement from racing, Ole Kirk was always held in high regard by his connections, from being the second top lot at the 2019 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale when offered from the draft of Gilgai Farm to making his debut with a stakes victory, followed by back-to-back wins in the Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas. The third favourite in betting behind last start stakes-winners Behemoth (All Too Hard) and Probabeel (Savabeel), the Kerrin McEvoy ridden colt will be joined in the race by fellow 3YOs Amish Boy (Star Witness) and Crosshaven (Smart Missile).
