    Friday, 19th February 2021

Vinery Stud’s Press Statement (Hinchinbrook-Kaaptive Empress, by Kaaptive Edition) appears to have a filly on the rise in South Africa after the Brett Crawford-trained Kitty Cat Chat (Press Statement-Kiwi Karma (Whats New Pussycat, by Fast ‘N’ Famous) remained unbeaten, recording her third consecutive victory. Carrying the top weight of 60kg over the 1200m, the 3YO Anton Marcus-ridden filly took up the running to lead throughout, winning by the three parts of a length at Kenilworth racecourse. Racing in the blue and green silks of owner Ridgemont Highlands, it was not that long ago, another star Australian bred filly started her career off in similar fashion with an unbeaten run – retiring in the last few days off the back of victory in the Gr.1 Cape Flying Championship, only time will tell if Kitty Cat Chat is the next Run Fox Run for the connections. Carrying the Arrowfield Stud brand, Kitty Cat Chat was bred by her owners in Australia before being exported to South Africa, while her dam and half-sister by Arrowfield Stud’s Japanese shuttler Maurice, now named Whoa Whoa Whoa, were exported to Ireland by their owners.
