  • Great House Pursuing Emotional Randwick Victory

    Friday, 26th February 2021

With the passing this week of Highclere Australia's Director Niall Power, emotions will be high on Saturday as Highclere's most recent Australian winner Great House (Galileo-Anja, by Indian Ridge) heads to Royal Randwick looking to make it back-to-back wins for the Chris Waller stable. Set to carry black arm bands in a sign of respect for Power's passing, jockey Tommy Berry will need to be at his best as the 4YO gelding jumps from the outside barrier of 13. At his most recent start, Great House settled towards the tail of the field behind the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained tearaway leader Vadiyann (Footstepsinthesand) before coming wide and showing a scintillating turn of foot to reel in the leader and pull away for an impressive victory, eased down on the line to win by just shy of 3-lengths. Currently the race favourite for the Heineken Handicap (2000m), if Great House can continue to improve the way most imports do under the care of Waller, the Spring could be an exciting time for the former Coolmore-owned runner who clearly has his best racing ahead of him.
