  • Stonestreet's Amen Corner Debuts

    Wednesday, 3rd March 2021

Purchased for $750,000 from the draft of Bhima Thoroughbreds at the 2020 Magic Millions Yearling Sale by Stonestreet Stables, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Amen Corner (I Am Invincible-Augusta Proud, by More Than Ready) is one of seven juveniles set to make their debut in Wednesday's Vinery Stud Handicap (1100m) at Warwick Farm. With three barrier trials under her belt in readiness, leading jockey Kerrin McEvoy has taken the ride and from barrier 2, should be able to get a cosy run. A half-sister to the Gr3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes winner Thyme For Roses (Redoute's Choice), Amen Corner is a daughter of the dual Gr3 winner Augusta Proud, an exceptional juvenile who not only won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast, but at the start prior won the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic – all in all from her seven starts at two, the filly was successful in her first six. While the race does look very open due to the amount of unraced runners, the race favourite is the Kim Waugh-trained Trinity Missile (Super One), a winner on debut at Gosford in mid-February, just ahead of the John O'Shea-trained Syracuse (Sebring), a runner up last time out when beaten 1.5-lengths on the Kensington track behind Bourbon Flyer (Flying Artie).
