Star's Kiku Chasing Pedigree Update

Wednesday's 2-length victory at Warwick Farm by the Chris Waller-trained Kiku (Zoustar-Atotori, by Haradasun) for Star Thoroughbreds, could be the start of a big few days for the filly with her full-brother Zoutori lining up in Saturday's Gr1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington. Sold through the draft of Amarina Farm at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale to Star Thoroughbreds for $300,000, the filly has now recorded two wins and four placed performances from her six starts to date, and any success by her Ellerton Zahra Racing-trained brother on Saturday, will see her residual value skyrocket. Zoutori is already a winner of seven races already including three times at Group 2 level, as well as having finished second in the Gr1 Oakleigh Plate and fourth in last year's Gr1 Newmarket Handicap behind Bivouac (Exceed and Excel). With very solid form over the track and distance, achieving seven top three performances from 11 starts, as well as having a strong second up record, the gelded 5YO Amarina graduate has every chance running a top race. Unfortunately, the duo's unraced dam is listed as having died in April 2020 while in foal to Highland Reel (Galileo), but her current yearling by Aquis' Gr1 Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet (Choisir) was purchased by Australian Bloodstock earlier this year at Magic Millions Gold Coast for $80,000.
