  • Rawiller Says Fall Irrelevant to WA Future

    Tuesday, 9th March 2021

Senior riding statesman Brad Rawiller has experienced twin highs and lows since making the move back to Western Australia after decades away. Not long after his return, where he was accompanied by his wife and children, Rawiller made it a quarter of a century of Group 1 winners when claiming the Gr1 Winterbottom Stakes aboard Elite Street (Brazen Beau). Icarus-like, Rawiller suffered a massive fall at Bunbury soon thereafter that resulted, according to thewest.com.au, in a broken collarbone and ribs, plus a punctured lung. Despite the poor luck, Rawiller says the family has settled in well and there are no plans to uproot again. Miraculously, Rawiller’s recovery has been far speedier than either he or his doctors could have wished for; so much so, that following a handful of rides at Ascot on Wednesday and Bunbury on Thursday – one at each – he hopes to have a full book of rides at Ascot’s Saturday meeting which features a pair of Listed events.
