  • Goddess Has Pedigree on Her Side

    Wednesday, 10th March 2021

One of only four unraced runners in Wednesday's Cathy McEvoy Plate (1150m) on the Randwick Kensington track, the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Goddess (Fastnet Rock-Girl Hussler, by Hussonet) has the pedigree on her side to go a long way. With four barrier trails under her belt leading into her debut, winning her first three quite well before an indifferent display last time out, jockey James McDonald should be able to get a run just behind them from barrier three before making his run to the line. Bred and raced by Segenhoe Sud, Goddess is a three-quarter-sister to Group 1 winner Manuel (Commands) and Group 3 winners Sun Patch – Computer Path (HK) (Exceed and Excel) and Taking Aim (Choisir), all out of the Listed Daybreak Lover winner Girl Hussler (Hussonet) from an international black type family. The current 2YO out of the mare, is a colt by Snitzel named Cotton Fingers in the stable of John and Gary Moore (whose partnership appears likely to be dissolved) and was a $875,000 Inglis Easter yearling sale purchase by George Moore Bloodstock, China Horse Club and Newgate Bloodstock; any further updates to his pedigree through the deeds of Goddess will only add potential stallion appeal down the track.
