  • Stud Duties Beckon For King's Legacy

    Thursday, 11th March 2021

The decision has been made that the curtain will come down on the racing career of dual Group 1 winner King’s Legacy (Redoute’s Choice-Breakfast in Bed, by Hussonet) with a stud career beckoning at Coolmore Stud, set to commence in the next breeding season. Purchased from the draft of Segenhoe Stud at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $1.4 million by James Harron Bloodstock, the Snowden Racing-trained colt broke his maiden at just his second career start when winning the Gr3 BJ McLachlan Stakes at Eagle Farm before three starts later capturing the Gr1 Sires’ Produce Stakes followed by the Gr1 Champagne Stakes, becoming the only juvenile of his generation to record two elite level wins. While the colt never won another race, his third-placed finish in the Gr1 Golden Rose Stakes behind Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon) and North Pacific (Brazen Beau) continued to highlight his class. Out of the stakes-placed Hussonet mare Breakfast In Bed, herself a half-sister to Gr1 Flight Stakes winner Oohood (I Am Invincible), King’s Legacy’s pedigree will see him as one of the most in-demand first season sires of his year. From the family of numerous sires including his three-quarter-brother Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice), Zizou (Fusaichi Pegasus) and Snippets (Lunchtime), King’s Legacy will get every chance to succeed at stud with not only the support from the Coolmore mares, but also some of the biggest breeders in the country who will remain involved in the colt’s ownership.
