Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) has announced that its Animal Welfare Manager, Dr Anna Smet, will be a speaker for the 2021 International Forum for the Aftercare of Racehorses (IFAR) to be held as a series of four virtual webinars on 6, 13, 20, and 27 April 2021. IFAR announced its line up of topics and speakers for its fifth conference, with each webinar beginning at 12pm GMT (7pm WST). Dr Smet will join the panel for the webinar on 13 April, focusing on the topic of ‘Aftercare for Racing Administrators and Regulators’. “I am pleased to be bringing our Western Australian perspective on driving change to enhance thoroughbred aftercare as a part of this international panel in the virtual format of this year’s IFAR conference,” Smet said. “I will be discussing the introduction of the Off the Track WA Estate, Retraining Program and Passport and the progress these initiatives have made here in Western Australia.” Smet pointed out, “The schedule of topics covered are really relevant to racing administrators, participants in the thoroughbred racing industry, as well as those involved with retired racehorses.” Meanwhile, Tom Reilly, Chief Executive Officer of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia and Aushorse, will also be speaking on 27 April (see the full schedule and topics below):
