Racing NSW and Australian Turf Club have determined that all race meetings forming part of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival will be run seven days later than originally scheduled. This was necessary after the postponement of Saturday’s Longines Golden Slipper meeting at Rosehill Gardens due to continued heavy rain. The unprecedented decision came after a track inspection by Racing NSW Stewards on raceday morning followed very heavy rain in the preceding week with much more to come. Hawkesbury Race Club was scheduled to have its stand-alone Saturday meeting on 24 April, headed by a Group 3 treble and a Listed event, however there seems to be no reason this can’t be pushed back to 1 May, possibly incorporating the Listed Lord Mayor’s Cup (1800m) which was to be run on Randwick’s Kensington circuit that day. Affecting 41 Group and Listed races in Sydney, including 16 prized Group 1 events, the revised dates for the Sydney Autumn Carnival are as follows:
