  • Fierce Impact Retired to Leneva Park

    Tuesday, 23rd March 2021

Joint Australian Champion Miler Fierce Impact (Deep Impact-Keiai Gerbera, by Smarty Jones) has been retired to Leneva Park, reports bloodhorse.com. "He's been an absolute star for us, it will be sad to see him leave the stable but we're safe in the knowledge that he retires perfectly sound and well," said trainer Matthew Smith. Fierce Impact won six races including three at Group 1 level: the 2020 Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes, 2019 Gr1 Cantala Stakes, and 2019 Gr1 Toorak Handicap. He hasn’t raced since finishing sixth in the Gr1 WS Cox Plate. Trained by David Simcock in Britain, Fierce Impact won his only start at two, and was a stakes-placed 3YO before being imported to Australia where he won at his second start here. A son of breed-shaping multiple Champion Sire in Japan, Deep Impact (Sunday Silence-Wind In her Hair, by Alzao), Fierce Impact is out of Group 3 winner Keiai Gerbera, who has also left Group 1 winner Keiai Nautique (Deep Impact) at stud. "It would have been great to see him on the track for a couple more runs, but to be honest we are still on cloud nine having secured a horse of his quality. We can't wait to welcome him home to Leneva Park," said Leneva Park’s general manager Mick Sharkie.
