  • Newgate to Stand North Pacific at Stud

    Thursday, 1st April 2021

Exceptionally talented sale-topping Inglis Melbourne Premier colt North Pacific has run his last race after sustaining an injury. Naturally precocious, as a 2YO North Pacific (Brazen Beau-Up In Lights, by O’Reilly) finished third on debut to subsequent Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Farnan (Not A Single Doubt) in the Gr2 Silver Slipper (1100m), running sensational closing sectionals. Coming back as a 3YO, North Pacific (Brazen Beau-Up In Lights, by O’Reilly) put in one of the highest rated performances of any colt of the season by smashing a strong field in the Gr3 Up and Coming Stakes (1300m) winning by over 5-lengths before putting in another huge performance in the Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m) beaten by the shortest of margins by multiple Group 1 winner Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon).“Rated by outstanding judge John Hawkes as one of the best-looking yearlings he’s ever seen at a sale, North Pacific had a huge engine to match his incredible good looks. While his racing career was prematurely cut short, he was a horse with legitimate Group 1 form and talent,” commented Newgate’s Henry Field. “It was very encouraging to see leading form analyst Daniel O’Sullivan rank him at the top of the 3YO colts for this season based on his two peak performances.” North Pacific will stand at a service fee of $20,000 + GST, and lifetime breeding rights are available.
