  • Anamoe Likely to Close out 2YO Premiership

    Thursday, 8th April 2021

Saturday’s Gr1 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) will, as always, be a keenly contested affair. With several key possible runners – including Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside (Extreme Choice) and Blue Diamond winner Artorious (Flying Artie)  – already in the paddock however, it does appear Anamoe’s for the taking. The Godolphin-campaigned son of Street Boss (Street Cry) has always given the indication that 1400 – 1600m would see him come into his own given his propensity to get back and then devour his rivals in the closing stages of his 1200m events contested. For the Gr2 Todman Stakes (1200m) winner, the line arrived too early when placed in both the Slipper and Diamond, but with the extra 200m over the testing Randwick circuit he will be afforded every chance to claim his maiden Group 1 victory. Should that occur, Anamoe is likely to find himself with an unassailable lead in the 2YO Black Type Premiership where victory would add 13 points to his current 40 points. Outside of stablemate Ingratiating (Frosted) who is on 34 points, only Home Affairs (I Am Invincible) – on 22 points – is even a remote chance of troubling his title claims. With the Gr1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) and Gr1 JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) – assuming he’s not in the paddock by then – possibly an even a better distance for Anamoe, on paper the 2YO Premiership is done and dusted.
