  • No Excuses for Tagaloa In All Aged

    Friday, 23rd April 2021

Co-trainer Trent Busuttin told racenet.com.au there will be no excuses for his 3YO colt Tagaloa (Lord Kanaloa-Vasilissa, by Heart's Cry) in this Saturday's Gr1 All Aged Stakes over 1400m at Randwick. "I couldn't have him any better – he's great, fantastic," Busuttin said. "We're coming there on Saturday to find out just how good he is because there will be no excuses. I can't have him any better and this has been a genuine target race. He ran in the Australian Guineas, had two weeks in the paddock, been kept up to the mark with a trial at Cranbourne, a couple of trips away to Sandown and Caulfield for a gallop between races." Busuttin advised, "I've always been mindful that his second run has been the best run of his campaign so I've tried to have him at a similar level to where he's been second-up in the past and I think I've got him pretty close. Drawn okay, he'll bounce out and be up there. I think he's going to run well." Gr1 Blue Diamond winner Tagaloa has had only one start outside group company, the 2YO Plate he won at his second start, and his record is three wins and five placings from 12 starts for earning over $1.4million. His last start was in the Gr1 Australian Guineas at the end of February 2021, where he ran third behind Lunar Fox (Foxwedge-Grant's Moon, by Malibu Moon) and Cherry Tortoni (Night of Thunder-Tortoni, by Strategic).
