  • Sweet Deal Chasing Crown

    Friday, 30th April 2021

Catalogued as Lot 58 at the upcoming Inglis Chairman's Sale, triple Group winner Sweet Deal (Casino Prince-Dorothy Evelyn, by Royal Academy) is looking to further her black-type achievements when she lines up in Saturday's Gr3 Hawkesbury Crown (1300m) as one of the favoured runners. Beaten less than a length into fourth in the Gr2 Sapphire Stakes on April 17 when dropping back to the 1200m, the John Thompson-trained mare will have the services of Nash Rawiller who will be back for his first Saturday meeting after serving a recent suspension. From barrier 5 the mare should get a lovely run in transit and while the clear favourite Athiri (Lonhro-Retsina, by Redoute's Choice) is likely to get all the favours from the inside gate, she does only have one win first-up from four starts and could be a slight risk racing fresh. Another who could prove hard to beat is the Kris Lees-trained Wandabaa (Wandjina-Mabkhara, by Anabaa) who is fourth up this time in after finishing fourth followed by a pair of thirds – all at black type level for connections Australian Bloodstock.
