    Amongst a raft of high profile international feature races over the weekend, the Gr1 Kentucky Derby was won by $1,000 yearling Medina Spirit (Protonico-Mongolian Changa, by Brilliant Speed), while at the other end of the price spectrum, the Gr1 Kentucky Oaks was won by $1.05 million yearling Malathaat (Curlin-Dreaming of Julia, by AP Indy).Three other Grade 1 races were held on Kentucky Derby day with Flagstaff (Speightstwon-Indyan Giving, by AP Indy) winning the Churchill Downs Stakes, while Spendthrift-owned Gamine (Into Mischief-Peggy Jane, by Kafwain) picked up her seventh win from eight starts in winning the 1400m Derby City Distaff Stakes. The Turf Classic over 1800m was dead-heated by Colonel Liam (Liam's Map-Amazement, by Bernadini) and Domestic Spending (Kingman-Urban Castle, by Street Cry). Meanwhile, in Europe, the Gr1 Two Thousand Guineas at Newmarket was won by 54-year-old jockey Kevin Manning (the oldest jockey to win a British Classic) aboard Poetic Flare (Dawn Approach-Maria Lee, by Rock of Gibraltar). The fillies version, the Gr1 One Thousand Guineas, was won by Mother Earth (Zoffany-Many Colours, by Green Desert). Over in France, the Gr1 Prix Ganay was won by 4YO entire Mare Australis (Australia-Miramare, by Rainbow Quest), and in Japan, the Gr1 Tenno Sho (Spring) was won by World Premiere (Deep Impact-Mandela, by Acatenango).
