  • Australian Owned Irish Filly For Royal Ascot

    Thursday, 20th May 2021

Group 1-placed winning 3YO filly Oodnadatta (Australia-Bewitched, by Dansili) will be aimed at Royal Ascot next month, reports racing.com. "She's had a slight hiccup in her campaign, so she missed the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier this month," half-share owner Bob Scarborough said. Coolmore's John Magnier owns the remaining fifty percent in the filly who was a winner last year at 2, and ran third in the Gr1 Curragh Moyglare Stud Stakes. Trained by Jessica Harrington, Oodnadatta is one of 48 early nominations for the £350,000 G1 Coronation Stakes (1603m) on Friday, June 18. After her third placing, Oodnadatta travelled to the US for the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf where she ran ninth of 14. "It was a bit of a disaster, she played up in the barriers, missed the start and going out of the straight the first time hit the running rail," said Scarborough. "She came into the straight running last and then flew down the outside and ran ninth of 14 starters. They paid all the expenses for getting her over there and we actually won US$50,000 (A$64,000), so it covered the extras of some of the stuff they don't pay for." Oodnadatta is out of Group 3 winner Bewitched (Dansili-Abbatiale, by Kaldoun), who is also the dam of Group 3 winner Pablo Escobarr (Galileo).
