A colt by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) sold for an even $1 million to top a record-breaking Day 1 of the 2021 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast. Leading Melbourne trainer Ciaron Maher, flanked by the stable's bloodstock manager Will Bourne, went to seven figures to secure the day's prized lot from the Gilgai Farm draft. Catalogued as Lot 109, the colt is the first foal of the stakes winning Ocean Park mare Ocean Jewel and is a close relation to Gimcrack Stakes winner Catch Me (I Am Invincible. "I saw the horse on the farm and it's a farm I've had a lot of success with," Maher reported. "We were hoping we wouldn't have to go that high but with the yearling prices this year going up and up we thought it was a good opportunity. That was a yearling price but he was an absolute stand out - out of a good mare and by the right stallion."
