  • Novarra to Stand Blueblood King Of Comedy

    Friday, 21st May 2021

Group 1 performer King Of Comedy (Kingman-Stage Presence, by Selkirk) will join Novara Park’s stallion roster this coming breeding season in New Zealand, reports loveracing.nz. Prepared by John Gosden for the bulk of his career for Lady Bamford, King Of Comedy was a winner at Sandown over 1400m on debut as a 2YO, before finishing second at the only other start of his juvenile season. Returning a winner at three, King Of Comedy went on to win the Listed Heron Stakes (1600m) before contesting the Gr1 St James’s Palace Stakes (1600m), where he ran a close second behind subsequent Champion 3YO miler in France, Circus Maximus (Galileo), with European Champion 3YO Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) finishing in third. He then finished fourth in the Gr1 Juddmonte International Stakes (2050m) and was also runner-up to Gr1 Caulfield Stakes winner and Gr1 Cox Plate second Benbatl (Dubawi) in the Gr2 Joel Stakes (1600m) at Newmarket, where Saturday’s Doomben Cup favourite Zaaki (Leroidesanimeaux) finished third. By Kingman, who has already sired four Group 1 winners and stands for a northern hemisphere fee of £150,000, King of Comedy is out of the outstanding producer Stage Presence (Selkirk), dam of Gr1 Prix de Diane (2100m) winner Star Of Seville (Duke of Marmalade) and Group 1-placed Group winner English Ballet (Danehill Dancer). King Of Comedy will stand at Novara Park Stud alongside resident stallions Sweynesse (Lonhro) and Staphanos (Deep Impact) at an introductory fee of $7,000 + GST, with a live foal guarantee.
