  • Young Trainer Backed by OTI Racing

    Friday, 21st May 2021

OTI Racing will send newly purchased 4YO gelding Harmysian (Lope de Vega-Adja, by Rock of Gibraltar) to dual licence holder Clayton Douglas, reports racing.com. "I'm quite impressed with Clayton," OTI Racing managing director Terry Henderson said. "We know some of the best trainers in the world have been jumps jockeys, Aidan O'Brien and Andre Fabre just to name two. It's a bit of a punt but I've been talking to Clayton about getting him a nice horse for a while. (Harmysian)'s a really nice horse that's been remarkably consistent with a lovely pedigree and can stay." Harmysian has won three races and placed six times from 12 starts, including a last start win over 3000m at Chantilly. Douglas has 17 horses on his books and has won eight races this season with his first 27 runners, including his first Flemington winner last weekend when 2YO Mimosas (Squamosa-Laurenstar, by Commands) won on debut. As a jockey, Douglas has 247 winners, with 24 of those over jumps, including this month's Grand Annual Steeplechase on Gold Medals (Elvstroem-Lady Mulroy, by Encosta de Lago), as well as the 2020 Brierly Steeplechase on Getting Leggie (Strategic-Aflashack, by Grand Lodge).
