  • Lord Mayor's Cup Next for Quick Thinker

    Wednesday, 26th May 2021

Last season's Gr1 ATC Derby winner Quick Thinker (So You Think-Acouplamas, by Al Maher), most recently seen winning the Gr3 Chairman's Quality (2600m) at Royal Randwick on April 10, will head to Brisbane and contest Saturday's Gr3 Lord Mayor's Cup (1800m) for the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman stable. With two barrier trial fourth placed efforts since his last start win, the 4YO stallion prospect has been ticking over nicely and connections feel that he may need a wet track to produce his best but with no rain forecast over the next few days in Brisbane, the multiple black-type winner should still acquit himself extremely well simply due to his class and race fitness on his side. "Quick Thinker had a nice trial at Rosehill last Friday and we will be taking him up to Brisbane for the Lord Mayor's Cup on Saturday," co-trainer, Murray Baker, said. "He has done well since he last raced but he needs it wet, so we are hoping they get some rain up in Brisbane during the week." While acceptances have not yet be taken for the race, one horse of particular interest is the Kris Lees-trained Aliferous (Hinchinbrook-Willow, by Woodman), who sold on Tuesday to Steve Morley Bloodstock/ Glenlogan Park for $475,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale, with connections likely to continue to race the Group 3-winning mare.
