Currently sitting in second position behind fellow Coolmore Stallion Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry) on the second season sire table, Gr1 Golden Slipper Slipper winner Vancouver (Medaglia d'Oro-Skates, by Danehill) added back to back race winners on Wednesday when the Chris Waller-trained pair of Cape Brenton (Vancouver-Exclusive Lass, by Nicconi) and Canadian Spice (Vancouver-Pappika, by General Nediym) scored at Canterbury. Making his debut, 2YO colt Cape Brenton, a $600,000 purchase by Tom Magnier from the draft of Willow Park Stud at the 2020 Magic Millions, toughed it out to deny Rebel Dane of a metro double, when defeating his son Rebel Shadow by a narrow margin over the 1250m. Racing in the silks of Pencarrow Stud, the James McDonald-ridden colt was the second of four winners for his Champion trainer at the meeting. The following race on the card saw the Woppitt Bloodstock and Hermitage Thoroughbreds-purchased Canadian Spice record her second career victory for Waller. Starting the race favourite, the 3YO filly, who was ridden by Tommy Berry, jumped to the lead where she maintained that position throughout, eased down when clear to win by just under a length. Standing for $22,000 (inc GST) for his sixth season at stud, Vancouver is the sire of six stakes-performers highlighted by this season's Gr2 Tulloch Stakes winner Yaletown.
