  • Deep Impact's Polyphonic Ready for Debut

    Thursday, 3rd June 2021

By one of the world's great sires in Deep Impact (Sunday Silence), out of a full-sister to one of Australia's most commercial stallions in Pierro (Lonhro), the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained 2YO filly Polyphonic (Deep Impact-Madrigals, by Lonhro) will surely be one of the best-bred horses to race on Thursday anywhere in the country. Making her debut in Wangaratta's opening race of the day, a 2YO Fillies Maiden Plate (1170m), the Damian Lane-ridden filly is one of six making their debut in the field of 13. While one would assume, based on her pedigree, that she may need some time and distance to show her best, the filly has been installed the race favourite for Thursday, ahead of another unraced filly in Shadwell Stud-owned and Lindsay Park-trained Widaad (Snitzel-Tafseel, by Starcraft), a sister to Gr3 winner Muraaqeb. Offered as part of Godolphin's draft at the 2017 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale, Polyphonic's dam Madrigals was purchased for $425,00 by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock on behalf of Jonathan Munz. Sent to Japan where she was covered by Deep Impact before returning back to Australia, the mare has since produced a colt by Snitzel, a filly by I Am Invincible and is currently in foal to Snitzel once again. Polyphonic races for Munz's Pinecliff Racing and Arrowfield Pastoral.
