  • I Am Lethal is One to Watch

    Thursday, 10th June 2021

Stepping out for his second ever barrier trial, contesting heat 5 over 1045m on Tuesday at Randwick, the John O'Shea-trained 2YO colt I Am Lethal (I Am Invincible-Steps In Time, by Danehill Dancer), highlighted his potential class with his second trial victory in as many starts. Purchased by his trainer from the draft of Kitchwin Hills at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, I Am Lethal is the fourth foal of the seven-time black type winner Steps In Time, who was trained by O'Shea in all bar her last four starts, with one of those four starts including victory in 2014 Gr1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) – see below – over Sweet Idea (Snitzel) and Catkins (Dubawi) when trained by Joe Pride after O'Shea moved to head up the Godolphin training stable. Settling in a mid-field position, jockey Brenton Avdulla kept the juvenile colt off the fence, and when they straightened for home, he allowed the colt to chase down the leader and pull away for a three-quarter length victory over the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Groover (Lonhro).
