  • ATC Honours Hall of Fame Inductee Bob Charley

    Friday, 11th June 2021

The Listed Bob Charley AO Stakes will be run at Randwick on Saturday for the second time and is part of a nine-race card to thank members of the club, reports racingnsw.com.au. "We are delighted to honour Bob with this race at Royal Randwick on the same day that we celebrate and thank such a special group of Members of our Club," Australian Turf Club Chairman Matthew McGrath said. "Our 50-year plus Members, Life Members and those who were our first female Members are part of the very fabric of Sydney racing and our Club. We thank them for their great loyalty to what is one of the world's best and most recognised thoroughbred racing Clubs." Among the runners is 2019 Country Championships winner Noble Boy (Bon Hoffa-Dignity Lady, by Manner Hill), who is having his first start for trainer Theresa Bateup. "He's a horse that I followed all along and it's nice to be dealing with horses of that calibre," Bateup said. "You learn something off every horse and when you get the chance to work with a horse of his calibre it's a good learning opportunity." Noble Boy is a $19 chance, having not raced since November 2020. He has won eight of his 22 starts and over $750,000.
