  • Costa Chasing another Sydney Hit & Run

    Friday, 18th June 2021

Recording success last Saturday at Randwick when outsider Seentoomany (Sebring) captured the Drinkwise Mile (1600m), Gold Coast-based trainer Michael Costa looks to have another handy proposition heading down to Sydney again this weekend. Originally on a Queensland Derby path before being scratched, talented 3YO Olympic Class (Olympic Glory-Class Apart, by French Deputy) has accepted for Rosehill's Sharp Extensive It Handicap (1800m). With three wins from his seven starts to date, highlighted by victory at his home track of the Gold Coast Turf Club last time out over 1800m, the 3YO Arrowfield Stud-bred and sold gelding will have the services of apprentice Jean Van Overmeire, who also rode Seentoomany to success last week. Having also accepted in the 2500m race at Ipswich, where he has drawn barrier 2, connections feel that the small eight horse field at Rosehill will suit the gelding better, with the interstate travel more than likely on the cards.
