  • First Winner for Sire Alpine Eagle

    Tuesday, 29th June 2021

The win on debut by Alpine Wolf (Alpine Eagle-Copper Dancer, by West Quest) on Sunday gave Tasmanian sire Alpine Eagle (High Chaparral-Zephyria, by Zabeel) his first winner in fine fashion, reports tasracing.com.au. "I think he is a really good horse and I told David Whishaw (breeder at Armidale Stud) that he should come to the races because he might see Alpine Eagle get his first winner," trainer Mark Ganderton said. "I'm so pleased for Armidale Stud because it puts its neck on the line to bring these expensive stallions into the state. I think this horse is going to be a jet, and I can hardly wait for the summer season when we can get him out over a trip in some of these 3YO features." Ganderton went on to win two more races on the card to bring up a treble for his stable with Sirene Stryker (Stryker-Pirate's Sirene, by Portland Pirate) and Ancona (West Quest-Seranita, by Masterclass). Alpine Eagle stands at Armidale Stud for $6,050 and was a Group 2 winner as a 3YO, while finishing runner-up in the Gr1 Australian Guineas.
