  • Munce's Filly Tackles Bruce McLachlan Classic

    Thursday, 1st July 2021

Dropping back in class somewhat from contesting stakes races at her last four runs, the Chris Munce-trained 2YO filly Berdini’s Girl (Odyssey Moon-Berdini, by Bernardini) looks right in the thick of things for the Bruce McLachlan Classic (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast. Fourth in two Listed events and third in the Gr2 Champagne Classic three runs back behind Prince Of Boom (Spirit of Boom), beating home Gr2 Sires’ Produce stakes winner Tiger Of Malay (Extreme Choice) and eventual Gr1 JJ Atkins runner-up Gianis (Flying Artie), Berdini’s Girl has unfortunately drawn out wide in barrier 15 in the 16 horse field. If she can find some cover, the Sunshine Coast straight does allow horse plenty of time to run home if they are good enough – just remember Winx (Street Cry) winning the Guineas at this meeting a few years back. An interesting runner in the field who is aiming to maintain her unbeaten record is the Tony and Maddysen Sears-trained Sequesay (Rothesay), with the Toowoomba-trained filly impressing in each of her three victories to date.
