  • Worthy Cause Off to a Fine Start

    Thursday, 8th July 2021

Young Clear Mountain Fairview stallion Worthy Cause (Choisir-Tahnee Tango, by Grand Lodge) is more than living up to his moniker following a strong start to his second career. Winner of the Gr3 Gunsynd Classic at the Gold Coast and Listed Paris Lane Stakes at Flemington, the beautifully-pedigreed commodity also placed in the Gr3 Vo Rogue Plate, Gr3 Eclipse Stakes, Gr3 Sunshine Coast Guineas, Listed Ascot Handicap and Listed Bernborough Handicap. Trained by John Zielke, Worthy Cause’s first cop of juveniles are the icing on the cake. Even though he won as a 2YO, he stands over ground and his 3YOs should be cherry-ripe by the time summer arrives. Nonetheless, from his first 6 starters that are 2YOs, he already boasts 4 winners, among them Hinged, a smart filly from good Last Tycoon mare Tints; to date Hinged has had 5 starts for 3 wins and 2 runners-up, including a nose second at Eagle Farm. Represented by small numbers from his first season at stud, Worthy Cause is by Choisir, and closely related to the Group 1-winning siblings Shogun Lodge, Referral and Singing The Blues. He is standing the 2021 season at the Frappell family’s respected Clear Mountain Fairview for $5,500 inc GST where he could prove another out-of-the-box bargain Queensland stallion.
