Previous Winners to Battle Out Spring Stakes

Winners of the 2019 and 2020 editions of Morphettville's Gr3 Spring Stakes (1200m) respectively, Dalasan (Dalakhani-Khandallah, by Kitten's Joy) and Behemoth (All Too Hard-Penny Banger, by Zedrich) look set to battle out this year's running of the race, held on Saturday. Both racing first-up, the David Jolly-trained Behemoth has six top two performances, including four wins, from his eight first up runs, and with a solid 1200m record, the 6yo looks hard to beat. The Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas-trained Dalasan has not started since his impressive Group 1 efforts during the Randwick Autumn, and although he is known more for a middle-distance trip, it would be no surprise to see the stallion prospect produce a top-quality effort first-up. Purchased for a combined total of $200,000, the pair have earned connections in excess of $5.4 million, and with the possibility of adding further success during the upcoming Spring carnival, it highlights the outstanding opportunities available for racehorse ownership in Australia.
