  • Devil's Fire Chilling in Retirement

    Monday, 16th August 2021

Holly Bryant, a teenager from Mt Isa, has quickly developed a friendship with galloper Devil's Fire (Ferocity). The nine-year-old chestnut gelding who is a son of Gr2 Ascot Vale Stakes winner Ferocity (Lion Hunter) has been through multiple stables with different trainers and has returned to scale successful three times, plus added 17 minor placings. Known as "Red" he has settled into retirement in Mt Isa and has now competed and won with 13-year-old Holly at the Mt Isa Show Junior Working Horse Class. According to Racing Queensland's website, Holly and Red have continued to grow their relationship. "She loves Red and they have a bond happening," states Holly's father Jay. "She competed in the Isa Show, they had horse events there and she did really well competing against much more seasoned riders. She does pony club with him, she is stoked to have him." During Devil's Fire's racing career, he gained his three victories at Aquis Park, Casino, and the Gold Coast. The latter was his favourite track where he placed on a dozen occasions, but now he is happily resting in retirement. "He is a lazy old horse these days, but he has put a fair bit of effort in his race career, and he is enjoying his retirement now," said Jay. "He is [just] happy to sit back, eat and do things with Holly."
