Birdsville Disappointment Could Be Nullified

Trainer Matt Kropp purchased Bryneich (Lonhro-Bernicia, by Elusive Quality) for this year's Birdsville Cup, but with the meeting cancelled, he's sending him around at Dalby today instead, reports racingqueensland.com.au. "He was bought by Rob Picking, who has a few horses with me, specifically for the Birdsville Cup but unfortunately it's off this year," Kropp said. "Rob is a Brisbane builder and he's had a lot of luck with horses in country Cups. We thought Bryneich would be an ideal Birdsville Cup horse after he bought him off Chris (Anderson)." Listed-placed Bryneich has won five of his 49 starts and today's race will be his first start for Kropp. "He's probably my best chance (at Dalby today)," Kropp said. "It's a nice race for him to kick off in but I'm just hoping he hasn't done too well. He's been racing in restricted city grade and at the Gold Coast so this is a fair drop back in class for him." Kropp also has Fiorcast (Fiorente-Scenic Castle, by Scenic) in Race 3, Festival Prince (Fruehling-Little Beautiful, by Beautiful Crown) in Race 5, Bobbie Jo (Tycoon Ruler-Monaleah, by Monashee Mountain) and Stellar Way (Red Dazzler-More Than Sharp, by More Than Ready) in Race 6, and Wait a Minute (Tycoon Ruler-I'll Wait, by Our Maizcay) in Race 7.
