Breaking his maiden last time out at just his third race start, $1.1m yearling purchase Military Expert (Redoute's Choice-Gresset, by Hussonet) steps up to stakes class on Saturday, attempting to enhance his potential stallion appeal when contesting the Gr3 Ming Dynasty (1400m) at Kembla Grange. Trained by Annabel Neasham and ridden by Tommy Berry, with the pair fresh from success last weekend aboard exciting 4YO Mo'unga (Savabeel) in the Gr1 Winx Stakes, Military Expert has come up with barrier six in the 10-horse field and currently sits on the second line of betting behind last start Gr3 Up And Coming Stakes runner-up Coastwatch (Fastnet Rock-Bullion Mansion, by Encosta de Lago), one of three runners in the field for the powerful Chris Waller stable. While the race in the past hasn't produced an illustrious list of future stakes-winners, noteworthy successes include Gr1 winners Quick Thinker (So You Think), Lion Tamer (Storming Home), Half Hennessy (Hennessy) and Lonhro (Octagonal).
