  • Venting Aims for Unbeaten Run at The Valley

    Thursday, 2nd September 2021

Racing heads to Moonee Valley on Saturday and the Danny O'Brien trained-3YO colt Venting (Star Witness-Vintage Strike, by Smart Strike) contests the opening event on the card, looking to maintain his unbeaten record. A full-brother to Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Aim (Star Witness), a winner of the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, Venting is one of five last start winners in the ten-horse field. Second in the market behind the Ben and JD Hayes-trained Sandy Prince (Pride of Dubai-Sandy Desert, by Line in the Sand), a winner of his last two starts, Venting has the services of Damian Lane and will jump from barrier 3. An interesting acceptor is the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Sealion (Astern-Element Of Danger, by Red Ransom) who won his first start at Wyong before heading down to Melbourne where he finished second behind Sandy Price second time out. With three in the field, the training duo of Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young would be looking for forward showings from their runners who are all bred to appreciate further than 1500m, with the outsider of the trio Shadow Hawk (Savabeel-Bird, by Danasinga) finishing a very close second last time out behind the older horses.
