  • Anamoe Lays Down The Roses Gauntlet

    Monday, 13th September 2021

Last season's Black Type 2YO Premiership Champion, Anamoe (Street Boss-Anamato, by Redoute's Choice) has made a clear-cut statement ahead of the Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m). Anamoe had appeared slightly vulnerable over 1200m and had also had his return build up delayed by a slight training setback. As a result, he was most backable at around $3.30 the win and $1.60 the place for the Gr2 Run To The Rose at Kembla Grange. One suspects that'll be the last time the market is as generous about his prospects for the remainder of the spring. The winning margin over In The Congo (Snitzel) and favoured Remarque (Snitzel) was nothing flash, but Godolphin Australia head trainer James Cummings was delighted anyway, telling racenet.com.au, "Anamoe's well and truly on his way. He's had a pretty light preliminary in the last couple of weeks to be ready for this, and what I like is that he doesn't look like an absolutely natural 1200m horse." Cummings confirmed Anamoe will be progressively stepped up in distance, with the most likely targets assumed to be the afore-mentioned Golden Rose (1400m) and Gr1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m). He enthused, "This colt just gets mobile and gets into his gorgeous action and he savaged the line like a horse that is ready to go right on with it."
