Reigning Group 1 Golden Slipper hero and Champion 2YO Farnan (Not A Single Doubt-Tallow, by Street Cry) performed as expected in his first barrier trial this time in after a somewhat lacklustre Spring campaign which saw the colt fail to impress. Ridden by Tim Clark, the Kia Ora Stud, Aquis Farm and Phoenix Thoroughbreds-owned entire jumped straight to the lead where he controlled the heat throughout, pulling away to defeat Mark Newnham's recent acquisition The Irishman (Tavistock-Zeranti, by Zabeel) by just over a length in a time of 1:04.30 on the soft rated track. "He had a good blow after the trial, so he still has a bit to go as far as condition wise. I think they plan to give him another trial before he resumes but this morning was a good indication that hopefully he is back to somewhere near his best," stated Clark on Thoroughbred Central. With his first up run expected to be the Gr1 Galaxy (1100m) on March 20, another barrier trial before he steps out on race day is likely to bring the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained colt on further condition wise, with every run now an opportunity to add to his potential stud appeal before he retires to Kia Ora Stud.
