  • WA Pair Ready for William Reid Challenge

    Thursday, 18th March 2021

Jockey Brad Parnham believes Perth sprinter Indian Pacific (Zoustar-Rosarino, by Perugino) will be right in the finish of Friday night's Gr1 William Reid Stakes over 1200m, reports rwwa.com.au. The 4YO gelding finished second behind Zoutori (Zoustar-Atotori, by Haradasun) in the Gr1 Newmarket Handicap last start, making that race a Gr1 quinella for emerging top sire Zoustar (Northern Meteor-Zouzou, by Redoute's Choice). "It was obviously a terrific run and I was very proud of him," Parnham told Tabradio. "He was able to do his own thing and toughed it out pretty well. We came up a little short but at that level I can't be disappointed with that. I've always had a high opinion of him and really the only time I was disappointed with him was the Winterbottom. Other than that, he has always given me a feel of a top liner." Parnham commented, "It was good to see him perform at that level and against those type of horses. It's something I thought he could do, and it was just great to see him do it." Indian Pacific has won seven of his 14 starts including two Listed races in Perth. Meanwhile, fellow Perth sprinter Elite Street (Street Boss-Elite Ateates, by Exceed and Excel) will also run in the Gr1 William Reid. "It's been a bit of a train wreck this campaign," Elite Street's trainer Dan Morton told The Races WA. "Nothing has gone right for him at all. I think going down the Flemington straight didn't really suit him. I believe going around a corner could be the key. He just needs to get cover and have a smother run. As I said, he is in good order and just needs things to go his way. It will be nice to go out on a winning note before he goes back home for a good break. I'm going in thinking he can win it."
