  • Bright Future for Talented Goldsborough

    Wednesday, 9th June 2021

Trainer Jack Duncan has resisted rushing his 3YO gelding Goldsborough (Headwater-Trista Rossa, by Testa Rossa), reports racingqueensland.com.au. The gelding will carry a hefty 60.5kg in today's Sunshine Coast Access Insulation Handicap over 1000m. "He's a very smart horse but he's only very light and can't cope with too much racing," Duncan said. "He grew a bit during his spell and he's going good at the moment but he's still not very big and is six months away from his best. I thought about claiming on him with his big weight but Ben Thompson knows him well so I've decided not to change things. He should be hard to beat after his last run behind Kisukano." Goldsborough has won two of his seven starts and placed in four others. He ran second in both his 2YO starts last autumn, then won first up over 1050m as a 3YO in November, beating future Listed winner Isotope (Deep Field-Great Dansaar, by Choisir). This time in, he again won first up, then ran third behind Kisukano (Bel Esprit-Kiss For Gran, by Show a Heart) at his last start. "He had every chance against Kisukano but he just got to the front a bit too soon that day. In six months he'll be a much better and stronger horse so I'll just waiting for the summer races with him." Goldsborough was purchased at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Baramul Stud for $45,000 and is out of a winning daughter of Listed winner Altrista (Sir Tristram-Alynda, by Nassau).
