  • Mura Mura on Song for Maiden Success

    Wednesday, 9th June 2021

Finishing behind the likes of stakes performers Tiger Of Malay (Extreme Choice), Sneaky Five (Fastnet Rock), Ranch Hand (Fastnet Rock), Four Moves Ahead (Snitzel) and Shaquero (Shalaa) in her first five career starts, the Stonestreet Stables-raced Mura Mura (Not A Single Doubt-Mount Zero, by Northern Meteor) appears the one to beat in today's Blue Point @ Darley Handicap (1100m) at Canterbury. Readied with two barrier trials, the Arrowfield Stud consigned Magic Millions graduate is one of just seven 2YOs left in the field after four of the juveniles in the field have already been scratched. Currently the equal favourite with Mark Newnham's unraced Dragonstone (Mikki Isle-Quick's The Word, by Shamardal), the Snowden Racing-trained Mura Mura will be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy and at this stage will jump from barrier six, while the Josh Parr-ridden co-favourite Dragonstone will jump away from barrier four. The Chris Waller-trained Celtic Harp (No Nay Never-Lagerphone, by Fastnet Rock) looks another interesting runner in the field and having already been scratched from the second race on the card to take his place here, the most expensive yearling ever sold in Australia by his Coolmore Stud sire, is surely one to keep an eye on.
