  • First Winner For Guineas Winner Amicus

    Wednesday, 16th June 2021

A hugely talented daughter of Coolmore's Fastnet Rock (Danehill), who was trained throughout her career by Champion trainer Chris Waller, the Mulcaster Bloodstock Magic Millions yearling-purchased Amicus (Fastnet Rock-Gold Chant, by El Moxie) produced her first winner when the Joseph O'Brien-trained Okita Soushi (Galileo-Amicus, by Fastnet Rock) was too classy for his rivals on debut, pulling away for a 4.5-length win over 2000m for Japanese based owner Toshihiro Matsumoto. A winner of five races during her career highlighted by Caulfield's Gr1 Thousand Guineas (1600m), Amicus was sold as a broodmare prospect at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale where she was purchased by Coolmore's Tom Magnier for $500,000. Subsequently exported to Ireland, Okita Soushi is the first foal of the mare, with her current, unraced 2YO being a full-sister to the debut winning colt, who has been named Peach Blossom. A half-sister to the Listed winner Cheer Leader (Snitzel), Amicus is out of the stakes-placed El Moxie mare Gold Chant, herself a half-sister to the Rosemont Stud based Starspangledbanner who, in turn, is the sire of last Saturday's super impressive Gr2 Dane Ripper Stakes winner Brooklyn Hustle, who looks right on target for the Gr1 Tattersall's Tiara on June 26.
