Even though the new season 3YOs are bound to face a plethora of as-yet unheralded late-bloomers, the Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m) on 25 September is already shaping up as a very exciting prospect with proven protagonists the benchmark. Sharing pre-post all-in favouritism at $5.00 are Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside (Extreme Choice) and Gr1 Inglis’ Sires Produce winner Anamoe (Street Boss), followed by Gr1 JJ Atkins winner Converge (Frankel) at $7.00, Gr1 Blue Diamond winner Artorious (Flying Artie) at $11 and then Gr1 Champagne Stakes winner Captivant (Capitalist) at $15, despite beating Converge in his last start. According to racingnsw.com.au, Captivant returns to the Snowden stable next week to begin a spring preparation that will be shaped by his performance in the $1 million Golden Rose. It’s the same formula applied to the stable’s 2020 Champagne Stakes winner King’s Legacy (Redoute’s Choice) who finished third to Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon) second-up in the Golden Rose. The Caulfield Guineas is on the radar if Captivant measures up in the Golden Rose, but there are also other local options such as the $1 million Bondi Stakes (1600m) for him in the spring.
